We have a wide variety of dogs at our club ... each with their own unique story.
This section of the site is dedicated to them.
Daisy's Story (Lurcher - Saluki/Whippet cross)
When Daisy was rescued from the NCDL Centre she had been living on the street and was
in poor shape. Sorting out her physical condition was easy - but as she settled in to
her new life it became clear that the psychological effects of her previous life were
more serious. She was nervous, scared of strangers (men especially) and terrified of
other dogs. This fear came out as snarling, full-on agression and made going for a
walk a nightmare.
For the first few visits to Mollie's classes, Daisy spent most of the time hiding under
a seat and pretending she wasn't there. Mollie accomodated Daisy perfectly, encouraging
her to join in at her own pace and never forcing her to participate. Over the next few
months, as Daisy became more comfortable being near other dogs, she started to come out
of her shell. Through Mollie's classes we were able to give Daisy the socialisation she
had missed as a puppy.
Now - some four years on - Daisy is a star of the Training Class. She has learned to
retrieve a toy, walk to heel, to sit, stay and come on command.
She is now confident and relaxed with other dogs;and "Dog Club" has become the highspot of Daisy's week.
